Snapper and Cobia Offshore Platform Upgrades

The Bass Strait, off Victoria's Gippsland coast, East Australia, is home to some of the largest oil discoveries found in Australia. In 1965 a joint venture between Esso Australia Resources Pty Ltd (EARPL) and BHP Billiton Petroleum (Bass Strait) Pty Ltd (BHPB) drilled Australia's first offshore well and discovered the Barracouta gas field. There are now 23 off shore platforms in the Bass Strait which feed a 600 km network of subsea pipelines, transporting oil to the Longford Crude Oil Stabilisation Plant.

As part of upgrades to the Snapper and Cobia platforms subsea infrastructure, LFF Brisbane was chosen to supply the pipe, fittings and flanges for the project, in a variety of material grades including 6Mo, CuNi, Duplex, Carbon & Low Temperature Carbon Steel. Our extensive knowledge and relationships with mills, qualified and approved by ExxonMobil, were critical to our success on this contract.
