Shearwater FGL Project

The Shearwater Field is situated within licence Block 22/30b in the Central North Sea 245km East of Aberdeen in circa 90 metres of water. The field contains two steel jacket structures, Shearwater A Wellhead Platform and the Shearwater C Process, Utilities and Quarters Platform. Shearwater produced gas was initially exported from Shearwater C to the Bacton onshore processing terminal via the SEAL pipeline. Shell routed the Shearwater gas to the Fulmar gas line via a Catcher PLEM for flow to the St. Fergus onshore terminal.

The main contractor, Subsea 7, EPIC scope involved the installation of the Rigid Riser and Guides, the SSIV structure, the SSIV Umbilical controls, tie in spools and the laying of a concrete coated gas export pipeline. high yield carbon steel flanges in ASTM A694 F60/65 (INC 625 cladded). These included API Swivels, WN’s, Blinds and special anchor forgings.
